Leonardo Fioravanti Head Judge
PREMISEDuring the days of the Concours the Jury has realized how great has been the interest for cars by the Kuwaitis. They have showed a true passion, especially the young generations, for classic and contemporary cars. JURY’S CRITERIADue to the wide range of periods and the different typologies of models covered by the cars who have entered the Concours, the main intent of the Jury has been to provide to the participants and to the public a correct reference from a historical and cultural point of view. The first valuation has been done regarding the originality of the project and the peculiarity of the mechanical solutions. Then the Jury has given more importance to the state of preservation of a car instead to an exaggerate restoring job. With this approach it’s possible to know better the true way of work of the epoch. But the most important thing is the importance given by the beauty, beauty of the exterior body and of the interior. The body is the element that summarizes, better than every other aspect, the values of a car. The image of the car body is also the most immediate and the most easy mean of communication. BEST OF SHOW1937 DELAHAYE 135: wins due to its impressiveness and elegance but at the same time is able to have some sporty elements (i.e.: engine bonnet air outlet and leather belts), without loose its integrity. The front and rear fenders are the first examples of aerodynamic solutions to decrease the air turbulences around the wheels. A CLASS1928 ROLLS ROYCE PHANTOM I Convertible: wins for its general dignity and for its originality given by the big cylindrical head lamps which underline the majesty of the radiator grill. B CLASSSee Best of Show C CLASS1952 PEGASO Z102: a rare mix of Italian (Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera) and Spanish mechanical originality combined with the magic unity of sporty and elegance D CLASS1965 FACEL VEGA FACEL III: one of the most interesting samples to combine the American engines with European chassis and bodies. The lower part of the body has influences from the American style, the upper part of the body ( i.e.: the pavilion) shows the typical elegance of Europe. BEST EUROPEAN1962 FERRARI 250 GTE 2+2: it’s a perfect union of elegance and sport on exceptional mechanics. BEST AMERICAN1963 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL: imposing expression of the American courage: an almost un thinkable convertible due to its long wheelbase and its four doors.
